Members of the St. Georges Basin VIEW Club recently gathered at the Sanctuary Restaurant at Sanctuary Point for their monthly luncheon. As usual, it was a pleasant affair.
However, there was a serious overtone – it was election time for a new committee. To be a member of VIEW is not always just fun and games, it takes a working committee to keep things running smoothly, to plan outings, to organize fundraising events, to attract new members and to keep a high profile in the community.
The St. Georges Basin ladies did not let their club down, what else could you expect? Not only were all committee positions filled but the club could attract three new faces to fill positions. Everybody is excited about it and is looking forward to new input, to new ideas and to new challenges.
The new committee will be represented by:
President - Rita Curtis~~~~~~~Vice President - Lesleigh Morley
Secretary - Dianne Doust~~~~~Ass. Secretary - Val Giblin
Treasurer - Joan Olsen~~~~~~~Ass. Treasurer - Ruth Gunn
Delegate - Pat Whalan~~~~~~~Publicity Officer - Helga Augner
Program Officers - Delma Dodson & Ann Laidlaw
The monthly social function/fundraiser was the usual highlight of the year, it was a Progressive Luncheon. The first course was served at Marian Holmes’ place at St. Georges Basin and was a huge success. Sweets were served (where else?) at Joan Olsen’s place at her beautiful waterfront home at Sanctuary Point. Joan always excels in cooking and presenting wonderful treats (her pavlovas are to die for!) but her efforts are surpassed by the glorious views from her verandah across the Basin towards Bream and Wrights Beach. What else could VIEW ladies want? A serious cuppa with delicious sweets and a view equal to the best in the world.
If this could convince you that VIEW is something to learn more about or perhaps to join, then ring President Marie on 4443 4863 or Secretary Rita on 4443 4232.
