I think this is a female Runcinia acuminata (family Thomisidae.) My reference for identification and the following description is "Spiders of Australia" a field guide by Ramon Mascord.
There are over 130 species of the family Thomisidae found in Australia.These spiders build no web snare and capture their food by lying in wait and grasping it with legs 1 and 2 which are usually spined.
Runcinia acuminata is common and wide spread in New South Wales and extends through Queensland and Papua New Guinea.
The female body length is 9-10mm and the male is 5.5mm. These spiders frequent the seeding heads of grasses. They build and camouflage their egg-sacs in the heads. Food is mainly moths which frequent grasses.
This particular female was moving around and presenting herself so well for my camera that I have broken my usual rule of 4 images per page and offered here 6 differrent views of this handsome Australian:
