SUN SHINES FOR WEATHER MAN
Racegoers enjoyed a break from the showers of the holiday period when the sun shone on a crowd of some 2,000 at the Sapphire Coast Turf Club New Year’s Day race meeting. Among them was Channel 10’s livewire weather man Tim Bailey (left) doing some on the spot research with the help of his good friend Stuart Diver. They are pictured with Sydney visitors Justine Saltmarsh and Jennifer Murphy on the lawns between races. Tim said Stuart, who is preparing to build a house on a beachfront block of land he owns at Tura Beach, had been showing him around the area. One of Australia's most recognisable faces, Tim currently presents the weather on location around NSW for the First at Five News on Channel 10. He is also a regular on its week-long Melbourne Cup carnival coverage, summertime surf reporter on Sports Tonight and a frequent visitor to the snow resorts. Stuart, a ski instructor, who survived the Thredbo landslide of July, 1977, is also a motivational speaker, charity fund raiser and author.
