My partner Jackie, who has a degree in Zoology, tells me I have two species of Christmas Beetle here (genus Anoplognathus). She has vouchsafed me a couple of technical descriptors for you:

The insect has spotted me, or at least my camera lens, and has spread its legs in what looks like a perimeter defence.
Here you have a green arsed variety:
