Rachael Tucker (ISV) wrote: 'As regards what I gained from the experience, well I think most of all I want to help more in terms of doing volunteer work. The course unit which I am actually doing ... is all about business, morals and ethics and to pass you have do a number of weeks of volunteer work in a year. This might seem quite incidental but actually had I not done the project at the crossing I would never have chosen it! i find it easier to see 'the bigger picture' now in that I don't just think oh what difference can one little person make but now I'm more positive and think sometimes little things can make a big difference!
More directly to what I gained in terms of environmental awareness I feel like I have learnt a lot about sustainability and about what things I can do now to help. I was also really inspired by the way you guys live and how much things can be reused. I'm gradually spreading the word and trying to get my family to take note! As for (my partner) Adam, I know he was particularly interested in ... the horticultural stuff. Adam also has quite a lot of grand plans about using technology to be more green and sustainable but again I have left such thoughts to him, though he was especially taken by the ideas of solar power. I must say I am quite intrigued to see what our house will look like when we live together.
To summarise though I would say that both of our experiences at the crossing really have changed how we think and our outlooks. Not just in terms of the environment but in generally living well and being a good person too. I was never really very outdoorsy but now I appreciate nature and wildlife so much more. Watching the sunrise and sitting around the camp fire are amongst my fondest memories. Oh and I almost forgot, I gained alot of new friends too! Gosh they would have killed me for forgetting them, but yea most of us have stayed in touch which is cool!'

(Eden High student) wrote: ' The Crossing was great! We got actively involved in environmental sustainability, reduction, waste management and recycling and really learned through activities. I enjoyed helping out and I really want to come back in the future and see progress and be part of helping. Now if we could get everyone to incorporate The Crossing's policies the world would be a better place.'

Darcy Jones (ISV participant) wrote: '..we all decided that the so-called "work" part of the program (at The Crossing) was by far our favourite...I would not trade my time at The Crossing for anything in the world. I gained so much knowledge and built so many amazing friendships...I just really felt like I learned a lot about myself.'
Timmothy Cunningham (ISV participant) wrote: '..from the bottom of my heart thank you for the absolutely wonderful time we all had at The Crossing! It was such a great experience that I will remember and cherish for ever and ever...'

Melissa Clark (ISV participant) wrote: 'The one quote that has such an impact on me is 'live simply so all can simply live'. That is just such an amazing quote and it has stuck with me throughout this entire experience. Conservation is going to be a huge part of my life from this moment on.'
