Richard Mikolajczyk, MACCAT’s new membership registrar is quoted as saying – “I don’t know why your business is not a member of MACCAT - now is the time to join as the next few years will be critical to Merimbula’s future." 

A Council with greater focus on business, tourism and local development plus a challenging economic environment make it imperative that Merimbula has a vibrant Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.

During 2008, the team at MACCAT have:

• Run the biggest ever promotion in Merimbula - My Merimbula,  giving away a motor car – encompassing Television, Radio & Press
• Supplied fantastic entertainment for thousands on NYE 2008 – Music on the Green
• Worked with the NSW police to curb anti social behaviour
• Coordinated the ‘Hope from the Ashes’ appeal with Magic Mountain for Victorian Victims of the bushfires.
• Raised in excess of $29,200.00 for Red Cross.
• Worked with Club Sapphire in promoting and staging the “ABBA” concert.
• Represented Merimbula to the BVSC gaining important community projects

The Retail sector has taken up the challenge and has four representatives on the Executive. In 2008, there was one. The 2009 MACCAT Executive Committee more appropriately reflects the structure of the Merimbula business community.

The 2009 Executive Committee, with its new balance of Retail and Accommodation sector interests, new faces, and a new direction seeks to raise above the bickering and divisions of the past, needs your support.
