BASC CODE OF CONDUCT

The Bega Amateur Swimming Club has implemented codes of conduct for all stakeholders.

Please make yourself familiar with all of these codes.

COACHES PLEDGE

  • We will remember that all swimmers participate for pleasure and to gain a life skill, winning is only part of the fun.
  • We will be responsible in our demands on swimmers time, energy and enthusiasm.
  • We will endeavour to ensure that all swimmers have a positive experience. All swimmers are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
  • We will ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of individual swimmers.
  • We will show respect to all opponents, coaches, officials, parents and spectators. We will encourage the swimmers to do the same.
  • We will obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of young swimmers.
  • We will have a sound and working knowledge of Swimming Australia policies, rules and coaching techniques.
  • We will teach swimmers that an honest effort and competing to the best of their ability is as important as winning.
  • We agree to this code of conduct and to be subject to the rules and policies of the Club.

SWIMMERS PLEDGE

  • I will respect all decisions made by officials and coaches.
  • I will be a good sport towards all other swimmers.
  • I will treat all participants as I would like to be treated.
  • I will cooperate with my coach, team members and opponents.
  • I will never argue with an official. If I do not understand a decision I will ask the team captain or coach during a competition break.

PARENTS PLEDGE

  • I will not pressure my child in any way, this is their sport not mine.
  • I will not use bad language, nor will I harass swimmers, coaches, officials or other officials.
  • I will encourage all swimmers regardless of their ability.
  • I will appreciate the coaches, officials and other volunteers who give their time to conduct events for my child.
  • I will volunteer my services and help when asked by a coach or an official.
  • I will refrain from any form of abuse or harassment towards others.
  • I agree to abide by this code of conduct and to be subject to the rules and policies of the Club.
  • I will respect all decisions made by officials and coaches.
  • I will perform any position I volunteer to do to the best of my ability.
