Club Night

Club Night is intended to be many things, a fun introduction to competitive swimming, a reward for the children's hard training and a great social evening for both children & parents.

Girls and Boys swim together and events are seeded on the basis of Personal Best Times ( PB's) regardless of age.The focus is on swimming a PB rather than winning.

This is reflected in the Club Night scoring system where points are awarded on the basis of PB's.

You won't have to worry about Monday night dinner either as the BBQ is available on Club Nights at great prices.

CLUB NIGHT PROGRAM

When?

Club nights are held every Monday evening, swimmers must be at the pool no later than 5.45pm to register for a 6.00pm start.

Where?

Bega Pool

Who can swim?

All club members are encouraged to participate.

How much does it cost?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !!!

Sausage, rissole and steak sandwiches are available from the BBQ on the night for a small charge.

How does it work?

Girls & boys of all ages are seeded by their best times so everyone swims with others of similar ability. The idea is to better your own time, so you're really only racing against yourself.

Young swimmers begin with 33m events and then progress once "progression times" are achieved.

Progression Times

Freestyle

  • Achieve 30secs for 33m to progress to 66m
  • Achieve 1min 5sec for 66m to progress to 100m

Butterfly

  • Achieve 35secs for 33m to progress to 66m
  • Achieve 1min 18sec for 66m to progress to 100m

Backstroke

  • Achieve 38secs for 33m to progress to 66m
  • Achieve 1min 18sec for 66m to progress to 100m

Breaststroke

  • Achieve 42secs for 33m to progress to 66m
  • Achieve 1min 20sec for 66m to progress to 100m

How to enter

Enter at the clubhouse entry window before 5.45pm on the night.

Pointscore

Swimmers accumulate points throughout the year for participation and improvement of their times. There are weekly and monthly pointscore prizes, and a trophy for the highest pointscore at the end of the season.

  • 1 point is awarded for participation in an event
  • Additional points are then awarded equal to seconds of time improvement

Eg. If you better your time by 2.05 seconds you will receive 1 point for participation and a further 2.05 points for time improvement - a total of 3.05 points would be earned for that event.

Parent Help

Parents are requested to get involved in the night, mostly all that is needed is for you to pick up a stopwatch and time keep.

Its not a hard task, you'll still be home by 7.30pm at the latest and it's actually quite a social and fun night.
