Arrangement ideas:

This is a double jig in A dorian mode. That means it is a busy tune in 6/8 time, uses a G major scale and resolves on the A. The main chord harmonies for an A dorian tune are usually Am and G.

As with Scollay's Reel and Maple Sugar, this arrangement makes use of simple chord harmonies and mainly open string bass notes.

Playing tips:

I am not inclined to hold down chord shapes for this one, as to play it up to dance tempo, the left hand must be fluid and mobile.

I use hammers and pull offs where possible throughout. If you check out the tab you will see that this approach suits the tunes natural layout on the fret board very well.

This arrangement will repay careful analysis of your left hand positions. If you use the correct fingers to fret bass notes then you'll find that the melody bounces along pleasantly under your remaining free fingers.
