AIM To promote an atmosphere of understanding and trust and safety between the children and their Carers and Staff, so that children attending Family Daycare have fun while they learn and grow. RATIONALE Children learn in large part by example. They reflect the quality of care they receive. Children have a right to have fun and learn freely while in care. STRATEGIES Staff and Carers will ensure that the manner of their address to the children attending our Scheme will foster a warm and trusting relationship between themselves and the children. This will be achieved by: • Listening to the children • Treating the children with kindness • Treating the children with respect • Showing fairness in all interactions with the children • Providing a good role model • Providing clearly drawn behaviour boundaries which will encourage a sense of safety in the children. Staff and Care Givers will ensure that interactions with children will be culturally relevant by: - researching the background of the given culture
- discussing the needs of this culture with the Families of the children
- adjusting the programming and interactions in accordance with the acquired information
Staff and Care Givers will ensure that interactions with children with disabilities will reflect understanding of these children's special needs.
