Sapphire Heli Services are located at Merimbula Airport on New South Wales’ far south coast.
We are located in the blue buildings at the northern end of the airport.

Merimbula is on the far south coast of NSW, approx 2.5 hrs from Canberra, 2 hrs from the snowfields and half way between Melbourne and Sydney on the Princes HWY. Regional Express flies daily from Melbourne and Sydney and the town is serviced regularly by private and public coach/bus services.

Our area is world renowned for its whale watching with tourists flocking to our coastline every year to catch these great mammals on their northerly migrations during the months of June & July, then again during their southerly migrations to Antarctica during the months from September through to November.

Sapphire Heli Services offer you a breathtaking whale watching experience when they return from the tropical waters up north and are heading down to the feeding grounds of Antarctica with their calves in tow. These majestic creatures of the deep keep well into the coastline on their southerly trip to take advantage of warm coastal currents and are quite often seen frolicking and playing in bays up and down the Sapphire Coast.

As these gentle giants are constantly on the move, your experienced pilot will always know what’s going on with information from our network of information centres, coastal patrols, charter boats and National Park & Wildlife Service.

Once aboard our brand new air conditioned helicopter, we track out over Merimbula Lake and then head south over Pambula and towards the historic whaling township of Eden, keep your eye out for a flipper or a surfacing humpback!

Sapphire Heli Services always operates in a way as to ensure the comfort and well being of whales and their surrounding environment; we follow all NPWS and DPI guidelines and voluntarily adopt the Helicopter Association Internationals ‘Fly Neighbourly Program’.
