Since 1988, Arati has released 2 cassettes and a CD of her original music. In the period between 1988 and 2000, Arati toured Australia and New Zealand as a solo perfromer of her own songs about love, sex and politics. A highlight of this career was to play in a packed house at the Sydney Opera House as part of a National Women's Festival.
Since 2000, she settled in a country town, got married and had babies, and taught other people to sing, while rarely performing herself. Somehow this motherhood imposed limitation on creative expression seemed to intensify her vocal abilities, and when she finally dug up her coal voice, she found a glittering diamond, and she liked the way it shone.
Re-emerging somewhat, she now plays at Cobargo Folk Festival and the Merimbula Jazz Festival regularly, as well as occassionally being invited further afield. Her main genres are 1930's jazz, European Cafe (singing in French, Italian and Spanish), and some originals of assorted flavours. She plays with guitar, sometimes piano, and with only-the-best accompaniasts.
