Transition Towns is a project that helps communities localise their economies.

It is driven by two critical factors ...

Peak Oil and Climate Change.

You can read all about Transition Towns at the international site at transitiontowns.org or our own (growing site) at transition.org.au

In Bega we are setting awareness about the issues and communicating with groups to see what we can do to make out communities more resilient to the end of oil availability and climate change scenarios.

This affects food supply, transport, health promotion, education and more.

It is a whole of community response and we have already done much.

The community network (Austcom) in which this site is located has developed working relationships with many groups and we are well placed to educate our communities about the challenges and find solutions.

What remains is the development of solutions together... it is a collaborative approach that will work.

Growing our own food, strengthening our LETS network, or transport solutions and our health networks are all areas to look at.

It really depends on us all finding out what we can do to develop a lifestyle that is better without a heavy dependence on oil in the economy.

Come ot the Niagara Wednesday 17th September at 6pm to find out more, and to find out what you can do in your local community..
