Flies 2 - Blowies

 

 

 

 My reference here is "Backyard Insects" by Paul Horne and Denis Crawford

Blow flies can lay maggots rather than eggs, so fly blown meat may have been exposed to flies for only a few moments.

Family Calliphoridae -  Amenia imperialis (Blow Fly) Definitely blow fly royalty I would say. Looks to have been hand crafted from colorful bits and pieces in somebodies sewing box:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Family Calliphoridae - Calliphora auger (Blow Fly) More your common or garden blowie I think, banging and buzzing against the window pane to be let out:

 

 

 

 

Family Calliphoridae (maybe) - Hairy arsed fly from Bega swamp. It was disinclined to fly but kept presenting my camera lens with it's bristly posterior:
