Dairy Industry

The dairy industry on the Far South Coast of NSW has been developing since the 1860s when Australian Illawarra Shorthorn cattle were brought to the district by new settlers who came to select land. Since these beginings the industry has been made up dairy farm, butter, cheese and milk factories. The district's economy has relied heavily on the dairy industry because of the employment it has provided and the money it has earnt for the district over such a long period of time.
