National Book Week 2010

Looking forward, we are currently gathering suggestions for events that might be staged during National Book Week 2010 which has the theme,

 ‘ACROSS THE STORY BRIDGE’

We have contacted our membership to ask for their ideas on the makeup of a program that could encompass the there, which has obvious appeal to both young and old readers.  We are also talking to local book clubs and book sellers about attractive speakers who would interest a Bega Valley audience, as well as throwing the net wider to see if publishers and others in the trade can help with suggestions.  Always, we are looking for a program that can bring more people together to talk about books.

In addition, we want some suggestions for names of speakers who might come to various library branches to speak at other times in the year.  Putting all our ‘eggs’ in one basket may save on promotion and organization effort, but that means the Friends do not present anything for the rest of the year.  We hope to host at least one speaker in each of the libraries in 2010. 

Other activities may also be staged from time to time so that the Friends and their support for the local library are not forgotten.
