About the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society

The Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society Inc was founded in 1967. It's aim was to conserve and document the extensive history of Merimbula and Pambula.

In 1973 the Society took over management of the old Merimbula school and, following extensive renovations of the 100 year old building, opened it to the public as the Old School Museum in 1975. Further renovations were completed in the 1990s with funding from the Ministry for the Arts and the community.

June 2005 saw the completion of a storage facility, built by the Robin Hood Club with funding from the Ministry for the Arts and various community sponsors.

The members of the Merimbula-Imlay Historical Society serve as volunteers at the Museum working in such capacities as attendants, archivists and cataloguers. The Society has a committee the President of which is currently Olwen Morris. The Curator of the Museum is Shirley Bazley who oversees the care of the collection.

The Society is always looking for volunteers and interested persons should contact Olwen Morris on 6495 0232 or Shirley Bazley on 6495 9231.

The annual cost of membership is $10 per person.

The Society meets on the last Monday of each month at Merimbula RSL Club, Main Street (opposite Old School Museum), Merimbula at 2.00pm. Visitors are welcome.
