The Candelo Township

Candelo township was established as a servicecentre for settlers on the surrounding farm lands. Also, many wagoners hauling their loads between the Monaro and the coast crossed river at the place that become Candelo.

Today, Candelo is still at the crossroads for travellers between the coast and the tablelands. The town has an idyllic setting which beckons visitors to stop, enjoy its park, river and olde-world buildings.

The Candelo Markets

The first Sunday in the month is well established as the day of the biggest market on the South Coast

Anything goes in Candelo on that day with up to 300 stalls filling the park, hall and the recreation ground. Come and choose a couple of chooks or pick your way through preloved treasures, plants and food stalls. There is something for everyone!!!

We hope to get every stall owner a page on this site to bring the markets to the online community as well

Stay tuned for that and make sure you are in Candelo on the first Sunday of every month 8.30am to 12.30pm
