River management is the principle resource issue on the Far South Coast. Rehabilitation and revegetation of the degraded and weed infested waterway at Narira Creek on the Princes Highway in Cobargo,NSW, are the prime objectives of this Natural Heritage Trust funded, community project.
The project has been auspiced by the Cobargo Tourist and Business Association and is co-ordinated by local revegetation consultants David Charlton and Lisa Roberts. It has the support of various individuals and community bodies such as the Bega Valley Shire Council, Landcare groups and the Department of Land and Water Conservation.
The project was officially launched by Gary Nairn MP on 27th March 2002, who engaged in a symbolic first planting of Tasman Flax Lilies in the park. All present were also eager to try their hand at planting and be a part of transforming their place.Â
