Dmailer Notes

purpose: to send categorised email to groups of people

 

features:

define recipient list from multiple sources including fe_user,

address records, csv, text, combinations of groups

recipients are marked with categories

 

compile html email from internal or external page to newsletter

can select individual content elements on total newsletter for

individual groups

 

bulk send emails - quicksend and send newsletter

 

 

setup:

1. install dmailer plugin using extension manager

2. create a sys folder page and select contains plugin dmailer

3. go to the dmailer page and select plugins mode on the left menu

4. use the select box to go to module configuration and set

from email, from name and some categories then update config

RECIPIENTS

5. Use the recipient list select box option in the dmailer sys folder

in plugin view to create a new mail group.

PAGE CONTENT

6. Create a page underneath the sys folder using the select box

to go to newsletters or by normal page creation approach

7. In be plugin newsletters module, select the new page

8. Select categories for each content element on page and update

9. Create new direct mail from this page

10. Use options select box to fetch and compile page to direct mail

then click Read URL

11. Use options select box to send test page and then mass-send email

12. Select recipient group and click send to all subscribers or copy paste email recipients into text box

and click send

13. Go to mailer engine status and invoke the mailer engine to send up to

50 emails each time you click the invoke link

14. Go to Direct Mails, select a direct mail and use the options dropdown to view

statistics. Return statistics are meaningless without catching email to the return address and piping into the database.

 

Additional setup will allow capture and statistics on bounced email

There is the dmail_subscription front end plugin (not da_newsletter) which allows fe users to subscribe to newsletters of their choice.
