HISTORY OF SCHVC

The Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club was formed in 1986 when four people with an interest in historic vehicles met at the Royal Willows Hotel in Pambula. In its formative years, Club members met at venues in Pambula and in 1989, the first stage of the present clubrooms and workshop complex at Greigs Flat in South Pambula was constructed.

Although the Club did not own the site, over the next decade, workshop and clubroom facilities were developed by volunteer effort and fundraising, along with the acquisition of a considerable amount of workshop equipment and tools.

With steady membership growth and development of its facilities, the SCHVC was able to hold social functions, run rallies and events for its members. At this time, the Club become affiliated with the NSW Council of Heritage Motor Clubs.

In recognition of their generosity in allowing Club use of their land, Geoff and Yvonne Grenenger were made Patrons of the Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club in 1992. In 1993, the Club was incorporated.

The Club completed the construction of stage 1 of the Automobile Exhibition and Education Centre in 2003. The Centre houses a display of thirty historic vehicles. In 2004, the Grenenger family gave the Club the title and land which it now occupies.

The Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club has just over 100 members with approximately 65 historic cars on Club plates.
