    About me

this is the page where i will write a little about myself

    technology

to start with im going to talk a bit about how i came to be interested in computers and such

i wasnt always interested in computers when i was younger i wanted to be a palentologist quite a different thing altogether

when i was about 10 or 11 i think my dad got a new computer he caught me looking at the settings of the computer and my dad told me i shouldnt go in there.

wrong move on his part heh i went in there one day when he went out and i messed around with some of the settings it was a dos menu system by the way

anyway i did that and all this stuff came on the screen and the computer kept rebooting as i recall it never did get fixed completly

after that i wanted to know what it was i did and how to fix it

a friend gave me an old computer a couple of years later i think

i guess you could say it was a 286 heh it was huge and had a tiny 12 inch maybe monochrome monitor all it had on it was xtree gold(which if you dont know was like a file manager in dos)i learnt lots of dos commands using that computer

one day i decided to take it apart to see how it looked i didnt manage to put it back together again instead i used several parts of it as diferent window stops

at this time i was also doing a course at tafe mostly reading and writing and maths and also some typing the teachers found i had an ability for computers and i did a couple of basic computer courses

then i did certificate 2 and 3 in information technology at tafe

after that i did work experience at the bega hospital in the it section mostly changing network settings

after that i helped to setup a network at tafe and did the international computer drivers licience which im yet to find a use for heh

then i did some work experience at the council which i did a bit of helpdesk work and a bit of working on computer hardware

i think about a year after that i enrolled at university of wollongong at the bega access centre learning programming in c++

    ...

    Music

music is one of the things i enjoy when i was little cds were starting to get popular so i didnt get many vinals i got one it was colette ring my bell i had no idea of the conotations it has at the age i bought it i just liked the sound of it

i had always listened to alot of pop songs for quite a long time when i was in my teens i started liking techno music the first song was one that drove my family crazy which might of been the reason i liked it so much heh

it was a song called doop im not sure who did it

pretty much after that i mostly liked techno music

this is a bit out of place but when i was about 10 or 11 i think i got a violin trying to impress a girl heh never worked andf i never managed to learn the violin the theory of it was fine i just couldnt move my fingers the way i was told to

when i was about 18 i got a game for my playstation that i had been playing a demo of the game was called music and with it you were able to compose songs together putting in the premade drum loops and melodies and breaks and even some sample vocals

i descovered it had an advanced mode where you could put together your own melodies drum loops etc

not very long after that i got thinking i wonder what programs they had on a computer that could do the same job i did a google search and found a free one i dont remember the name of it now but it had more switches knobs etc etc then anything i had ever seen and quite frankly it scared the f*ck out of me

i went back to the music game on my playstation and did that for a while then a friend of mine told me of a program called fruityloops and i said whats that a cereal which is something everyone asks me heh but anyway i had a look around it and it was much less daunting and after a couple of weeks i was making some alright drum loops this friend and me started sending each other parts and trading and he was good though he said i had found sounds in the program he didnt know existed

unfortunatly i lost contact with him i still have some of his songs though

i kept using fruityloops i think ive been using it for about 4 yrs

and i still dont know how to acuratly play the keyboard i have been trying to teach myself my songs dont sound too bad though ive been told i dont trust myself to weather there good or not cause no matter how much i change them i dont think there good enough heh

last year i started playing around with cubase which was another frightening experience for me because it does look a bit intimidating

earlier this year i did a short course through the community college in sound production ran by john mcviety the little that i did in that cleared up alot of things plus organizing to do work experience with him aswell has helped alot

    Spirituality

i was brought up as a 7thday adventist the only difference to any other christian religion that i know of is they worship on a saturday instead of a sunday i hated every second of it i had "no choice" but to go

over the years i resented it more and more and when i moved down back to bega away from my father i didnt go to church and for a while there i didnt believe in anything i thought the whole concept of some higher power god whatever was a load of bulshite

i thought that way for about a year

(*ill make a note here ever since i remember when i was little i always astral traveled for a number of years in my teens i stoped and totally forgot about it when i moved back to bega i remembered it tho*)

about 6months after i had decided there was no higher power i had started astral traveling again (to watch tv when i had to go to bed ;) heh )

i didnt think much of it, then i saw the movie the craft and it made me think about stuff. Thats about the time i started researching wicca, alot of wiccians say its a terrible movie and sure alot of it is movie magic but there are elements in it that are real

after that i read about wicca and witch craft for a few yrs one of my first books was one by scott cunningham about making magick oils incences etc

about 2 yrs ago i was given a book on druidry called merlyn and the name merlin is a nickname ive used ever since i first got online i adopted the spelling merlyn due to the fact that the spelling merlin is linked to a fable designed to make light of what he realy was

my beliefs currently are part wiccian because i dont entirely agree with everything in it part druid for the same reason and some american indian beliefs mostly just their beliefs in higher powers the earth mother and skyfather

    relationships

**dont read if u dont like lovy dovy stuff **

i wanted to write this partly because i wanted an excuse to post a pic of me and my girlfriend and also she is an american so she helps me to understand the way that americans are much more then the media ever could and we have a very close connection and she is a major part of my life alot of the songs i have made have been inspired by her and she is always very supportive of everything i do

ok so here is a pic of me and lala(aka laura)
