The Site Administration Team (SAT) of Bega Valley Community website is concerned with ensuring that content on the site conforms to both government regulations (i.e. nothing illegal) and community expectations.
This page has been created to explore these issues further.
The terms 'internet censorship' and 'internet content regulation' tend to be used interchangeably when discussing sites that are likely to attract minors, depending on what the author or speaker is arguing.
In developing a policy we need to discuss both censorship, meaning blanket restrictions on particular types or categories of material (such as RC - refused classification, material in Australia), and content regulation (such as R rated internet content hosted in Australia, legal when hosted within a restricted access scheme, but illegal otherwise).
Secondly, in discussions of content regulation or censorship, terms such as illegal, obscene, harmful, offensive, and dangerous commonly occur, often with little distinction being made between the terms.
In the development of this policy, unless referring to a particular type of content or particular legislation, SAT will use the term 'problematic content' to discuss content which people may wish to censor or regulate.

Sorry to be a stickler, however I'm not entirely thrilled about the 'coments' made about women on a particular new site. Whether or not policitcal party women are attractive or not is descriminatory and innapropriate.
Thanks
