Notes From the Recent Visit

Bega recently hosted 23 guests from Littleton Colorado.  The ten day programme started with a visit to Parliament House, followed by a quick tour around Canberra before enjoying a sumptuous luncheon at the home of Jill and Neil McKenzie.  The group then travelled by bus to Bega for a Civic welcome in Littleton Park.

David Necker, their group leader addressed the crowd and expressed his delight at 'being home".  Of the 23 guests, 13 had visited Bega on previous delegations,

Then followed 10 days of activities and functions, renewing old friendships and making new ones.  We enjoyed picnics and barbecues, a car observation rally, and wonderful dinner functions, the Civic Dinner being hosted by the Bega Valley Shire Council.

Highlights of the visit included a morning tea hosted by staff and students of Bega West Primary School.  Guests were transported to the school by members of the Bega Vintage Car Club which created great excitement for children and adults alike.

The group enjoyed bus trips north to Bermagui for a fish lunch and a visit to Umbarra Cultural Centre,  and a bus trip south to Eden and Mandini Resort.

A day a the races on the last day of the visit followed by a farewell dinner at the Bega RSL Club saw a fitting end to what was a fantastic delegation visit.
