History

The Apex Club of Bermagui-Cobargo sponsored the first public meeting to consider the building of retirement units in Cobargo. This meeting was held August 15, 1975 and was chaired by the President of Mumbulla Shire Council, Mr. Ralph Stewart. A donation of land was made by publican Ron Rankin and a small but enthusiastic fund raising committee was formed. Following five years of determined fund raising the first stage of eight units were opened in 1980.

Two additional units were officially opened by Mr. Jim Snow M.H.R. and Mr. Russell Smith M.L.A. April 1996. These units were jointly funded by the Dept. of Housing and the Narira Village Committee. In the same year the Committee purchased an adjoining parcel of land. The following year a further parcel of land was purchased. Narira Village is now situated on sufficient prime residential land to cater for future needs of the complex. The Committee is committed to the future development of the Village as well as the continual improvement of the current ammenities.
