Convention Photos

September was an exciting month for the ladies in Area NG VIEW. 55 members attended the Annual National Convention which this year took place in Geelong, Victoria. It was a memorable occasion when nearly 1000 women from all corners of the country got together.

The first day was strictly business when the leading office bearers were introduced. It was nice to meet the National President, the National Vice Presidents and representatives of The Smith Family.

Every year VIEW Clubs nationwide put forward ideas that might bring changes to the community. These resolutions are thoroughly discussed and then forwarded to the next level. This year five resolutions were debated and eventually passed. They will now be presented to the various state and federal ministers. Perhaps some legislation will be changed or amended to take the recommendations of VIEW Clubs into account.

An extremely interesting guest speaker at the convention was Christine Nixon, the Police Commissioner of Victoria. She came across not only as a highly qualified person and competent police officer but also as a warm, friendly and sincere woman. No wonder Christine received a standing ovation.

It was not only business for the VIEW ladies at Geelong, they also had lots of social activities. There was a Roman Forum at the Italian Club with countless white sheets made up into togas. Also popular were the “Elegant Night”, Gala Night and the Grand Finale – Musicale. The bus tours proved to be excellent with destinations the Great Ocean Road, the Bellarine, Werribee Zoo and the Otways.

Next years convention will be held at Tamworth and plans are in hand to turn the place upside down!
