Co-Opera comes to town!

Co-Opera and the Sapphire coast Music Society in association with TAMS-WHITMARK MUSIC LIBRARY, INC. of New York presents:

Kiss Me, Kate

Music & Lyrics by Cole Porter

Book by Sam & Bella Spewack

This delightful musical is about a theatre company putting on a musicl version of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew and the feuding antics of leading man, Fred Graham, and his temperamental leading lady, ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. They portray the Shakespearean roles of Petruchio and Katherine, the 'shrew' of the title. Throw in a deliciously naughty second lead actress, Lois Lane, her gambling-addicted beau, Bill Calhoun, as well as a couple of gangsters mistakenly chasing after Bill's latest debt, and opening night proves to be a very big event, both onstage and off! Can the feuding Fred and Lilli, still in love with each other despite Fred's ego and Lilli's fiance, get their act together before the curtain goes down on the play?

Co-Opera's version has the swagger and bawdiness of Shakespeare's time and reflects our own times too, such as including a saucy spanking scene!

Kiss Me, Kate is on at Jigamy Farm Hall, 431 Princes Highway, Greigs Flat (halfway between Pambula and Eden) on Friday 9th March at 7.30pm. Tickets are $36 members & pension concession and $40 non-members.

Book early as last year's opera, Don Giovanni, was booked out!
