Community Health is there to help you

Do you need an appointment with Community Health? Remember to mention where you're from and ask if the appointment can be on bus days. Thankyou to Greater Southern Area Health Service for the informative Community Health information sessions in Bega and Pambula. For those that attended it was helpful to learn about the many services offered by these centres at no cost. These include but are not limited to Aboriginal Health, Aged care worker, Dementia support worker, Audiologist, Child and family health nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational therapist, Speech therapist, Podiatrist, Dietician, Sexual Assault worker and Women's health nurse. When booking appointments the Health Professionals are aware of our Access Bus Service and where possible can try to arrange them to coincide with the Bus. The bus can drop off at the required time and come back and pick up when finished. Phone Pambula Community Health on 64957294 or Bega Community Health on 64929620

THE SUMMER BUS PROGRAM

New Years Eve Service will be on again

Youth of the Towamba valley keenly took advantage of the free travel vouchers over last Summer and also the April and October school holidays.

The Summer Bus is an initiative of the Bega Valley Shire Youth Council to promote safe travel over the Festive and Holiday seasons.

Another New Years Eve Service will be operating to the 2008/09 Merimbula Fireworks and Celebrations.

Now that the weather is starting to warm up............

Keep checking this site for more information about this and future Summer bus promotions

The Future of your Access Bus

We’re running for another 12 months

We have just received advice that this much loved service will receive a further contribution of funding from the Ministry of Transport to enable it to continue for another year.  A letter was received from Steve Whan’s office from Sonia Hornery MP Parliamentary Secretary for Transport to advise of the once-off contribution. As this service originally began as a consequence of a press release from Mr Whan back in 2005, we have received ongoing support from him, despite a change in electoral boundaries in 2007. We must also thank Mr Andrew Constance who is our new MP for this area and has also been advocating in response to your letters.

Whilst fares have been static for the past 18 months there will be a slight increase of $1 per destination commencing 2nd July.

This service has continued to be successful because of the passengers that use it. Since our funding source continues to be non-recurrent it will be essential to demonstrate good patronage as we report back to Ministry to enable further funding in the future.

If you haven’t yet tried the Access Bus then why not hop aboard and save yourself some petrol.

Looking forward to seeing you

Di and Ken
