ptabConjewai Polka$collected from Roy Craft, Wyong, NSW Max CampbellMy source for this tune is the "Australian traditional dance tunebook" produced by the Wongawilli colonial dance club. In the A section the melody is in the bass line. So take your timing off the down stem notes and just get the rythmn fills (up stem notes) in where appropriate. Melody switches to the top line in the B section I've shown a few different rhythm figures: The chord fills (bars1 & 2 etc) and the root note pedal (bars 3 & 4). These rhythm bits do compromise the melody somewhat so I 'd always recommend sourcing the tune from one or more melody instrument settings, then incorporating whatever appeals from my arrangement into one of your own. .
