ptabCotton eyed Joe Max CampbellQThis is a very simple setting of the tune. Get the arrangement flowing under your fingers, then just let it roll round and round. I hope, like me, you will find it hypnotic and compelling. I've indicated a few hammers and pulls that I use. I also do some left hand bass damping (often making the treble notes staccato at the same time.) I hope you'll find yourself moving the melody around a little rythmically and dynamically under the steady bass. There's also a lot of space to try small melodic variations. Notice the transition from the A section (bar9) to the B section (bar10). I've deliberately thrown the emphasis to the 4th beat in bar 9 and tied the melody line over to bar 10, giving the feeling of a delayed entry in the B section melody and making the tune feel a little crooked. (That is, not a straight 8 bars per section.)
