ptabHardiman the fiddler Max CampbellgGuitar tuning is DADGBE Hardiman the Fiddler is an Irish slip jig in 9/8. As with the Boys of Ballysadare, I've gone with a drone in the basses, this time though, thumping it out on the open strings at 3 beats to the bar. If you check the tab fingering you'll see that I've arranged for maximum ease with hammers and pulls. I Take the slide to the F# in bar 7 slowly letting it last for almost the full value of the second note. Sometimes I'll cheat with the tuning and put a capo across the top 5 strings at the second fret. Using D shapes will then put you in "dropped E" tuning. This works well as a solo or with a versatile partner, but is not viable in a larger session where people are expecting the tune to be in it's native G This is a very plain setting of the tune. You may find your fingers flicking out extra grace notes of their own accord. Have fun.
