ptabMarquis of Granby Max CampbellArrangement Ideas: The Marquis of Granby is a simple waltz easily learnt on any instrument. It is nevertheless popular at our sessions and well worth a look. Notice that bars 1-4 are repeated at 9-12. Similarly bars 5-8 are repeated at 29-32 Bars 13-16 are repeated at 21-24 and bars 17-20 are repeated at 25-28. My arrangement adds harmonic interest with a descending bass line (bars 17-20 etc) and I have fun throwing the rhythmic emphasis in the bass to the second beat in the bar at bars 3,11,19 and 27. I have avoided playing the whole tune with a "one two three" rhythm, preferring instead to mix up the bass figures and generally keep the accompaniment sparse.
