ptabShe moved through the fair Max CampbellxShe moved through the fair My young love said to me, "My mother won't mind And my father won't slight you for your lack of kind," She stepped away from me and this she did say, "It will not be long, love, till our wedding day." She stepped away from me, and she walked thro' the fair. Fondly I watched her move here and move there. she wends her way slowly with one star awake, As the swan in the evening moves over the lake. Last night I dreamed that my young love came in So softly she entered her feet made no din. She lay close beside me, and this she did say, "It will not be long, love, till our wedding day."The main structural elements of my arrangements are, first position chords and freely used open strings in the melody and bass. I would always suggest that you find other sources for the harmony and melody in these tunes and use them along with my ideas as a basis for your own arrangements. I've set the tune in G mixolydian - I think of this as a C major scale resolving to the 5th or G. The timing of the piece is after my favourite sung version and differs quite a bit from several written versions of the tune that I've seen. This arrangement has a little more counter melody in the bass than my usual efforts and though not difficult to execute, requires an organised approach with the left hand fingering.CGuitarUntitledh@Standard@;72-( CGuitarIn CTempoMarkerd CSection2 CChordText CStaff3 CPosition CLineData@@B !B @ ! ##!
