MACCAT meets with Local Police

MACCAT President Don Smith & Secretary Barry Harrison have meet with Local Police Sgt Clifton Scarlett this week.  Don said that MACCAT was concerned with the increasing level of vandalism and break ins around the town however he was encouraged with the response he received from Sgt Scarlett.  

Sgt Scarlett said he welcomed the discussions with MACCAT and was  particularly pleased that MACCAT was interested in the welfare of the town.  Sgt Scarlett briefed MACCAT on a number of matters relating to the town and said he was pleased that MACCAT had offered assistence to the NSW Police.

Both SMITH & Scarlett asked members of the community to ring Police at any time if they had concerns about their safety and welfare in the town. Sgt Scarlett said that his members would not tolerate unruly behavior around town.

MACCAT Mourns

MACCAT President Don Smith said that it has been a very sad week for MACCAT with the passing of David Ramsey, husband of Executive member Dawn Ramsey.  Don said David was a very well respected member of the chamber and a hard working motel operator.

Don said the local business community had been had hit recently with the deaths of not ony David Ramsey, but also Gail McKay and Judy Williams. 

Don passed his & MACCAT's condolences to Executive member Dawn Ramsey.

National Landscapes meeting in Merimbula

The National Landscapes Steering Committee meet this week in Merimbula. President Don Smith said that the  Committee meet at the Black Dolphin Motel to discuss the Master Planning stage for the Australian Coastal Wilderness region that takes in Bermagui to Lakes Entrance in Victoria. 

Representatives from East Gippsland Tourism, Tourism Australia and Parks Australia along with the local members of the Steering Committee attended Wednesday meeting. Chair of Sapphire Coast Tourism Bruce Lever said it was a very productive day's planning and he said he looked forward to finalising the Master Planning.  Bruce said the the Australian Alps had commenced its Master Planning and we are right on their heels.
