These tunes are some of my favourites from Irish, Breton, Australian and American dance music traditions. The author's name, where I have one, will be placed in brackets beside the tune link.
The tunes are presented here as arrangements for finger style guitar in standard tuning (EADGBE). The exception is "Hardiman the fiddler". (DADGBE) For more information and a presentation of some of these tunes with tablature and music notation as well as arranging notes, refer to my tune arranging workshop
I try to make my arrangements easy to play and remember (in sessions,) by using open strings and first position scales and chord fingerings where possible. The tune settings will some times be closer to a pared down "Old Timey" claw hammer banjo rendition than a full noted fiddle version. For more information see my article on Arranging tunes
I would always recommend that you cross reference with other tune sources for melody and harmony. My hope is that you will find my settings useful as building blocks for your own arranging ideas. Have fun!
