Kevin Mulcahy
Kevin is a talented man with many facets.
Shortwave Radio
His passion for lighthouses and shortwave radio is a reminder of days gone by when such technology was the bread of life for an emerging society.
Visit Kevin's site vk2ce.com. It's an acheivement in itself.
He is also the Oceania co-ordinator for an international 'ham' radio operators conference 'on-air' each August and there is a link to that site as well.
Interestingly, the ham radio operators use the lighthouses because of their great line of sight and because of their historical connection with ham radio and safety at sea.
Australian Lighthouses
Kevin has so much lighthouse material he has crafted a beautiful site just dedicated to these revered buildings. One can see why. There are some great images there and good history material on Cyclone Tracy plus some real surprises.
The Caring Act
The act of caring represented in a lighthouse and it's upkeep stirs our inner selves to consider and appreciate the lives of our forebears.
It is this dedication and sincere concern for the welfare of others that lead us to adopt the lighthouse as our own logo, drawn by Ben Thompson.
We see the lighthouse as a safe passage, a pathway home, a warning of danger.
Thank you to Kevin Mulcahy for your inspiration as we developed thebegavalley.com website where our community cares for it's own through better communication, promoting the events that shape our lives and sharing our skills with new generations.
You are a lighthouse to us Kevin.
