Southern Women's Group Inc.

The Southern Women’s Group Inc. is a feminist organisation, working towards the empowerment of women and the elimination of violence and sexism. We run an information and referral centre for women in Bega, New South Wales, Australia, and we are developing this site as an information tool for the centre.

SWG is a non-profit institution, registered as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) and a Deductible Gift Recipient. SWG activities assist in the relief of isolation, poverty, sickness, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness. Additionally as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) SWG is entitled to receive income tax deductible gifts.

The Women's Resource Centre has a range of services including computer/internet access and training, library, production and distribution of a bi-monthly newsletter SCREECH, photocopying and a friendly meeting space. We run a regular music/art drop in on Thursday afternoons 1-3pm for cake, tea and coffee, friends, music, singing, stories, art and craft... Other workshops, forums and groups are run regularly call WRC for more information.

The Bega Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Scheme provides information, referral and direct support for women and children seeking Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.Interested in getting involved? Women of all ages and backgrounds are invited and encouraged to become involved as members of the Southern Women's Group and support the aims and objectives of our services at Women's Resource Centre and Bega Womens Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Scheme.
