Originating in ancient China, Tai-Chi is one of the most broadly applicable systems of self care in the world.Tai-Chi combines mental concentration, slow breathing with dance like movements to increase chi flow (our vital life force) throughout the body.
How does one make chi (qi )circulate in the body ?
By creating YIN and YANG energy within the body by:
1. posture and movement
2. breathing
3. mind intent
The single most important requirement for this to happen is to understand RELAX. You need to let go of the tention within your body and your mind so as not to interferewith your chi flow.
1. JING - mental quietude, quiet from within- focus on what you are doing-replace 10000 thoughts with but one, this improves relaxation
2. SONG - relaxed,-also loosening and stretching out. NO stiffness
3. CHEN - to sink, sink the weight down thru a straight back, sink your chi down to DAN TIEN on out breath
4. HUO- to be agile, nimble and not sluggish. This arrives wiyh steady practice-understanding proper posture-loose joints-internal strength.
It is important to remember that during TAI-CHI ones own body is the laboratory to be used for investigating to see if you are cultivating your physical and mental abilities.
